Case 1 - Personal
accounts
Prerequisite: You have to be registered in CERN's
Human Resources (HR) database either by HR (personnel paid by CERN)
or by the CERN Users' Office (CERN users not paid by CERN), or for external contractors the registration service in Building 55.
Step 1: user is new at CERN and does
NOT have a CERN computing account
New users
should first sign the Computer Centre User Registration Form
electronically. To do so:
follow the
procedure outlined in this link
After that users
should follow all the other steps below to create the CERN computing
account.
Step 2: user has
already a CERN computer account but needs new access to some services
(e.g. new login on AFS, NICE, Remedy, etc.)
OR
user is new and has
signed the User Registration form (step 1) and need a CERN computing
account (with access to various services)
Users must
contact directly their Computing Group administrator who will proceed
to the name reservation and accounts creation using CRA. The group
administrator shall give the login name and initial CERN
password.

Please note:

The Helpdesk cannot help with
account creation, and users must contact (by phone or
email) one of their Computing Group administrators.

changes in the HR database (e.g., your phone, or office
number,
name correction)
please call
your
secretariat
or for visitors the Users' Office (phone: 76767).
Case 2
- Generic (non-human) account
To register a generic (non-human) account (e.g., service,
CERN club, etc.) open the "Generic Entry Request " link on the right. Note that these accounts cannot
obtain GRID certificates.
Account closure: Shortly before your registration expires you will receive an email warning you that your accounts will be closed. If you fail to renew your registration, your accounts will be blocked on the date indicated.
